No single instrument finds every leak. ADI uses a combination of methods suited to the pipework, building and signs of water loss on your site.
Acoustic detection
Sensitive listening equipment helps an engineer locate the sound of escaping water, including beneath ground and floors.
Thermal imaging
A camera shows surface temperature differences that can help investigate heating pipework and moisture patterns.
Tracer gas
A specialist gas mixture can help trace a leak from a suitable isolated pipe to a detectable point at the surface.
Moisture mapping
Measurements across walls, ceilings or floors build a picture of where moisture is concentrated.
Pressure testing
Testing suitable sections of pipework helps establish which part of a system is losing pressure.
CCTV and inspection cameras
Drain cameras and borescopes give a view into accessible drainage and concealed spaces.
The engineer selects the method for the conditions. Pipe material, water pressure, access, background noise and building construction can affect results. Non-invasive testing helps target access work, but opening surfaces may still be necessary.
