Who should coordinate a leak survey visit?

Choose one staff contact who can arrange access and involve the home’s responsible manager when decisions about the survey are needed. Let ADI know about sign-in requirements, visiting restrictions and parking.

What building information to have ready for a leak survey

Have plans, the location of meters and valves, affected rooms and past findings ready if they are available, but do not delay the first call while searching for paperwork.

  • Location of the meter, valves and plant room
  • Affected rooms and approximate pipe routes
  • Details of previous investigations and repairs
  • Relevant site hazards and building records
  • Preferred access windows and restricted areas

Will a leak survey interrupt water or heating in the care home?

Some tests require part of a system to be isolated, so the care home must approve any interruption and plan alternative arrangements for essential uses. Tell the engineer which services must remain available.

What paperwork to request before a care home leak survey

Ask what the quotation includes for detection, reporting and repair, and request the risk assessment, method statement, insurance evidence and engineer documentation your home requires.
